It was the movie..NEMO...and my little grandaughter,,,she wanted a NEMO...last thing on earth I would have thought to do with the little spare time I had... But, no regrets....Its been and IS a wild ride.... " learn as you go" my father always said.

I have been fascinated by saltwater tanks since I saw my first one 52 years ago. I had freshwater on and off since I was 12. This year my hubby encouraged me and with my old ,tank and some stuff I had already I took the plunge. Other then depleting my pocketbook, I love it.

Well I born in P.R., and the Ocean always had a wondrous attraction for me, so since I was very young I wanted to be part of it, but neither my mom or dad could swim, so I learn around the age of 8, and then I wanted to show my parents how wonderful and beautiful it was under the dark blue surface it was, at the age 12 me and some friends try to start our first sw tank, it was a 20g. tall and with the old air hose carbon floss chamber, w/o success. then I had my 30g. long in 1994 fowlr and it was successful after hours of reading, so now every chance I get will have a salt water tank, unlike fresh water, is more exiting and a greater variety of life to be kept

Poll should contain an answer for "all of the above" ;D
Originally for me it was fish and challenge. I started of with a FOWLR tank in mind. Now I have a full-blown reef tank, as the corals and inverts were all just too inviting! :cheesy:
