Growing up i had freshwater tanks.. with creatures from the creek by my house.
My son got a goldfish tank as a present last year.. i gave it away due to too much cleaning. Me and the woman discussed salt... we went to the LFS.. they had a nice setup with stand and everything.. with everything included (fish, LR, etc).. I was trying to buy a house that day.. told the LFS if it fell through I would be back that day to buy the tank.. the bank screwed me so I ended up with my tank.. and now I want a bigger one. LOL

It all started with sugar gliders. One of, I mean our FAVORITE pass time is hitting up petstores. We've trying to get to all of new england by the end of the year, haha JK. Anyways we've always loved animals and our love for exotics eventually got us wrapped up in salt water, because all the cool stores have them. Sugar glider>chinchilla>hamster>hedgehog>salt water. Thank you pet stores!

I had had many freshwater tanks in the past. A friend from down the road said he could make us a couple 50 to 60 gal tanks.. I would have a tank, he would have a tank.
We could frag corals, give to one another, learn together, etc..

Well, he made me a 60+ gal tank, and he changed his mind about his... !!!
Our glass was free.. I got hooked.. LOVE Corals.. Been at it for around a year now..
And I started on this website.. !!!!
He doesn't know what he's missing..

I didn't even know this was a hobby at first. My 22 year old son picked up this 75g 3 year old tank for free, stocked and established, two months later he needed to move home to devote more time to college and work and brought the tank home in Oct. '08. It was listed on craigslist and didn't sell and I was fascinated with the tank, and needed to care for it. I started backwards not knowing anything about SW, I found 3Reef and poured over info to keep tank going and cure some of the problems it had. I am totally obsessed with the world of reefing! What a great hobby!!

It seemed the next logical step/challenge after doing freshwater for so long.
