I really, really love my BRS Deluxe GFO reactor.

Couldn't wait to get the TLF one off! It's a pain to open, close and change the media.
I had 10 zipties on the elbow barbs to give me enough confidence it wouldn't leak too.

I have been using the TLF Phosban reactor for years. I started with the original style which was a PITA to keep sealed but the current version is not as bad.

I actually use two of them manifolded together so I feed both from one powerhead via a tee and individual valves SO I can adjust the flows independently of each other for different medias like GFO and carbon.

Another issue is if you are adding this to a 50G tank you only need about 50 grams of media, about 5 level spoons full and some of the other reactors are much too big to keep adjusted properly with such a small amount of media.

I've personally used the TLF and BRS reactors for both GFO and BP. I have to go with the TLF although is does need a few mods to get its max effectiveness. First up the recommended MJ 1200? no. skip it, not enough. It cant handle the back pressure. Some people recommend a mag 3, but its expensive. I went with an ecoplus:

    EcoPlus 396 Submersible Water Pump, 396 GPH, 25W - AquaCave.com

half the price and works plenty fine.

Next up dump the flimsy rubber elbows. But some hard plastic ones and run regular tubing. I use my reactor in sump with the pump right underneath so max room saving and more direct tubing.

Finally comes the biggest problem at least with BP, the water dispersal on the intube at the bottom isnt enough to get good even flow for BP, for GFO its meh but not BP. Alot of people cut the tube glue a spacer, etc. I perfer to do as minimal chopping on stuff in case I want to use it for something else later. What I did was buy a BP screen for like $2.99, then cut a center hole for it to slide down the down tube. I then cut a couple holes in the screen and put a nylon screw thru it with a nut on the other side to hold it up. Think like a mini table. So the BP didnt rest on the bottom plate they rested on the space I made. It gives the water room to disperse and roll the BP, while still keeping original configuration capability.

You can kinda see it at the bottom. Yes its a mess and alot of salt creep. this was a bust week so didnt get sunday cleanup in.

I like my TLF reactors even when I ran pellets in one. No need for an extra pump if you can T or Y off your return line like I did. But I do agree about the 90* being a bit flimsy.

I started with a TLF 550, went to a BRS and now with a Next Reef reactor. The NR is by far my favorite
