What Protein skimmer for a 90 gal tank with sump?

    well if u want a pretty good skimmer and want to drop a chunk of change then you could go for a deltec, bubble king, ATB, or Tunze.....heard very good things on those as well on all of those but dont buy a skimmer that is for a tank like twice the size or something of yours. Check out marinedepot.com, marinespecialty.com or aquacave.com and the skimmers they have at any of those places....those are a start and offer pretty fair deals and you can chose from a lot of different skimmers

    I guess my other issue is I have plans if this tank goes well to buy a 300 gal or bigger in the future (1 year)

    btw why not something thats bigger than my tank?

    There is no skimmer that is going to bridge the gap from a 90 to a 300. Most recommend buying a skimmer twice your tank to move up. There are many skimmers that will work well with your 90g and still be able to handle a 180g. But a 300g, that is an entirely different animal.

    I do understand you are just testing the waters, but I would not even bother loosing money on a set up if I knew I wanted bigger in a year. Split the difference and let it grow for a few years.
