    I am in the process of setting up a 300 gallon FOWLR and was wondering what salt would the experienced guys use seeing that this is my first marine tank.

    Since its a fowlr then good 'ol instant ocean will be fine.

    Not for a fowlr. Reef crystals are great for reef tanks because they are packed with calcium and trace elements. With a fowlr you just need something that with make water salty.

    I don't know too much about it but I should have worded it will the crystals help with the coralline growth
