NEW SETUP PLANS ON PAGE 2!!!!!
THE BELOW ONE IS KINDA NOT THOUGHT THROUGH! THANKS

Im planning on setting up a 38 gallon (36x12x20) or 40 gallon (48x12x12) or maybe larger, marine tank with about 30-40 lb. of liverock, a heater, a bunch of easy soft corals and motipora hard corals,
    Fish:
    > a maroon clown
    > dwarf fuzzy lionfish
    > cockatoo waspfish
    > leaf scorpionfish
    > cheekspot scorpionfish
    > redfin waspfish

what filtration would you recommend for this setup?:confused:

all of that in a 38? I'd follow up with incognito on that. But that seems like a lot of live prey eaters and poopers, so I'd oversize the skimmer and sump, and consider a bio pellet reactor.

I'd take a couple fish off that list as cosmo says, they are major poopers. I would do one type of each fish.

im doing a 40 gallon breeder which measures 36x15.8x19.8 which would be better and i would most likely not include one of them.

and ive been talking to incognito alot. she agrees that it'll be alittle tight. how else would i get this idea of a setup: scorps wasps and lions!
    hahaha :) .

ok cool a huge skimmer and a sump.
i plan on making my own sump then!

lol, I know right, I was blown away by those fish too, and agree that would be an awesome tank. BUT.... that is a lot of poop, and uneaten food which, doesn't seem like you'll be able to have a CUC for since those fish will eat a CUC. If ya wanna have all that, just plan for it. Super oversized skimmer, a BIG sump, a filter, a reactor or 2, and a hospital tank. But you'll have to add that list over at least 6-12 months, so you'll know when the tank is maxed out on bioload.

I'm looking forward to the thread and videos.;)

ok thanks. the red-fin is a very small fish as well as the cheek-spot. i plan to use a feeding stick so there will be little to no uneaten food. i also dont want to use a ton of expensive reactors so maybe ill get rid of a couple fish. the sump is my best be though right?
    are they easy to build/clean/maintain???

Yeah to be honest with you and your plans and size of tank, I wouldn't add more than 1 of those fish a month or at least every 2 weeks to allow your biological filter to catch up, so ya have time to save and add stuff.

Yeah, I'd do a sump, I don't have one and hate that i don't, but they are easy to build, cheap and a must for a tank like yours, IMO. I'd just buy a cheap old big as you can fit aquarium, get some plexiglass cut, buy a good overflow and return pump, miracle mud, and chaeto and done.

There are a TON of build threads on these here.

Def, with your wish list, I'd stock up on that stuff and be prepped to use it. Theres another PM for ya to send. Tim is awesome and will guide ya to keep that bio filter. Just start a thread on his sponsor site here so we can all learn. The guy knows WAY too much about bacteria lol.
