i done my cycling long about 5-6 weeks ago but my nitrate level is still 10ppm approximately 10ppm b/c my other test which is red sea shows 5ppm but any way i have nitrate should i be worry or ignore it for now? i have few coral and three mid size fish. and green, dark purple algae on my rocks seems like none of them is dominating my tank but i am using purple up and calcium and ro/di water with reef crystal salt.

the purple algae is coralline growth, its a good thing, as for your nitrates, 5 to 10 ppm is nothing to worryabout, if your really stressing throw some chaeto in there

depends how much LR and how rancid that LR was when he got it and what size tank he has Godbert ( i would say ) and then i'd like to know if any amonia , etc. is present in the tank.

My nitrate tests have always been ~10 ppm. Almost never below...

    But never much higher either.

Don't know if test kit or not...

But both the tanks and I are OK with it.

    :-/

If its 5-10ppm of No3 that you have, thats nothing to worry about, I have 20ppm normally and that doesnt effect anything in my tank. IMO, its ok to have 5-10ppm b/c some corals need No3, but if its really eating at you, just get more LR or a refugium or cut back on feeding. There are many ways to drop No3's. If I where in your shoes, I wouldnt worry about it, but do test for it on a regular basis. Luna
