what should i add to my refugium

    im still in the building /planning stages, but wanted to know what you guys think. i will be adding a 5 inch sb and some chaeto what else should i add?

    You have an excellent stocking list there. If you have nuisance algae in the tank add it to the refugium to help it keep the algae out of the DT.

    A couple of mangroves would compliment the chaeto and help in the reduction of nitrates and phosphates.

    no most likely not mangroves are great put some macro algae in there to!

    1 penny macro algae
    5 red mangroves
    and chaeto w/pods

    I have never heard a good explaination as to why you should run Mangroves and Macro algae. They acomplish the same job, but have different needs. I would love to hear one.

    Only if you let the roots grow into the corners of your tank and through the silicone. That's why most people have them on a floating bit of styrofoam or in a basket, so they can see the ends of the roots.

    Is penny macroalgae something you're getting for just 1 cent?
    You may want to find out exactly what kind of algae it is, as not all are desirable.
