ok, so I was conducting a water change and discovered my watchman Gobie in the sump. I don't know how the hell he got down there but he's there. I took him out and placed him back into the aquarium but then took him back out and placed him back into the sump after considering the following:
    (1) he may jump back into the overflow and not make it next time
    (2) he probably has a better food source in the sump with the copepods and less competion for food.
    (3) he has a light 24/7 light source which I use for the caulerpa
    (4) if I place him back in the main display I have to target feed him which was impossible the 1st time because he was always hiding..
    what should I do??

Well i have heard that WMG are jumpers. Have never had any problem with mine, He just stays under his rock only sign i have that he is still alive is in the morning when i look at the tank i see the sand clean near where he lives. Also see his head poking out of the sand whole under his rock from time to time. You could try to modify your over flow to where it sits higher an makes a tighter fit to your hood or lid. I am not sure what your current set up is.

well the overflow actually is set higher then the water level. That is why I couldn't explain how he got in there, but being that they are known to be jumpers, that explains it. I have no hood so he must have jumped right into the overflow. My question is this: should I leave him in the sump or should I put him back into the tank? He looks like he's good in the sump and if he's doing better there I don't mind leaving him there as long as he's heathy. Im just concerned about his nutrition. They do eat copepods right??

Well they do mine seems to eat the algea in the the sand detrius. it will scoop it in its mouth and flutter there gills explilling the sand an keeping all the detrius out. there foor cleaning the sand. IT happens to be a yellow watchman golby not sure if that makes any difference a watchman should be a watchman. He always seems to stay at bottom of the tank though.

Mine managed to jump into the back chamber of my aquapod twice right after I bought him. I never made any mods, he just stopped doing it once he got settled in. I have had him for over a year now with no new problems. I would put him in the display and put some netting over the overflow until he has had a chance to get his bearings.

my watchman did that and i put eggcrate in my overflow, hes never made it back down again, leave him up top, what happens if hes in your sump and manages to jump out of that, well your gonan have a fish stick. If i was you i would put him back in the DT, maybe he learned to not do it again.

I would also cover the overflow but also cover the entire tank if it's jumping, I wouldn't count on it "learning" not to jump out of the tank, otherwise you might end up with a fish chip on the floor.
I also don't think it's good to keep a fish in a 24/7 lit environment. They need sleep cycles just like people do. I would put it back in the display, get it covered and let it settle in.
Are there other fish in the tank that might be bullying it, or spooking it into jumping?
