    What kind of light?

You say bulb (singular) so that makes me think a standard strip light. You won't be doing any reefing with that.

Tank dimensions and desired stocking list would help for more specific suggestions.

The single T8 standard fluorescent bulb won't really grow much of anything. What you plan to keep will determine what lighting system you would need, but since you're in the market for a new light, you might want to check with Reef Breeders for a reasonably-priced dimmable LED system.

I have a 36 gallon bow front. The hood and lighting that i have on there now has two light bulbs. I don't know exactly what coral i want being that my tank is still young and i want to add them slow. I was trying to get a very good light bulb/bulbs instead of getting a whole new light setup to try to save a little bit of money.

Unless it's a 2-bulb T5 fixture (which I doubt - are the bulbs skinny or fat?), you really won't have much luck without buying a new fixture. And, if it is a T5 fixture, only having two bulbs will likely limit your stocking choices to low-light softies, et al.

I would take a look at Reefbreeders, as suggested by Mr. Bill. You could also look at RapidLED if you're willing to spend a few bucks and into the whole DIY thing. Your local craigslist might also harbor some deals (check the Community - Pets section) if you don't mind used goods.

If you really want a reef you're going to have to spend some to get good lighting.Try to come up with a realistic plan of what you would like to have in your tank and members here will give you good advise on what you need.Keep in mind it's cheaper to spend once and get what you really need than to spend less only to find that you need to upgrade.
