Big dilemma. We are going to be moving soon. But to a temporary spot( building a house and stayin w the in law till its done!)
I have a 40 breeder with a coral beauty, 2 clowns, 2 damsels, 1 small jawfish, 1 yellow sleeper goby, 1 lawn mower blenny.
Only a few corals, mostly toadstools mushrooms, and Duncan's.
Now..... Should I dismantle and move the tank TWICE, or sell everything in it and restart when we get settled in our home? I eventually would like to upgrade to at least a 180.
My fiancé and I will be staying in 1 large room with my dog and 2 cats, so I don't know if the tank would just be more stress.
    What would you do???

How long will you be in your temp housing?

Well personally having moved to condo while house being built and then again when done I can tell you less stress the better.

So although you may not want to I say sell the stuff off. The less stuff you need to move the better. Takes a while to settle into a new house and unpack and arrange things the way you like and buy new stuff.

Once life has settled back down and you can breath and relax in your new home then start things back up. You got plenty of pets to keep you busy.

Id try an sell it, 1 bedroom isn't nearly big enough to live comfortably with a tank, speaking from experience lol

That's what I was thinking. I'm not sure how long it will take us to build. Hopefully not long! For my sake! My fiancé seems to think it will be easy to move the tank. But he doesn't see all the work that's involved! I'm still debating. I'm still not sure when this is going to happen either.

Being you are not sure how long you will be in temp housing and the fact you are wanting to upgrade I would sell it and start new when the time comes. Good luck. Enjoy your new home.

I would keep everything and move it twice. Thats what I did. I moved to a temp spot and it turned into a year. Once you have livestock that's eating and healthy its hard to just sell it off. Plus you'll never know when you'll get the bigger tank. Atleast you'll always have the 40 breeder. I don't think its to overly difficult to move that tank, you'll be happy once its done and looking at your tank;) I sold off a tank and I regret it.

Good point DSC. also I'll already have my LR to use in my upgrade!

I think for now I'm not going to buy anything else to go into the tank! (Well I'll try not to!!)

I would really hate to sell my fish, some I've had a few years, and have some idiot kill them.

My next idea was to put everything into a smaller tank. But I think moving 7 fish into a smaller space wouldn't be good either

I've never built a house but from many people that I know have, it usually is not done by the time it's supposed to be. There is a lot of stress and decisions that you'll need to make as well. I would say a 40 should be easy enough to move and you've had your livestock for a while, I'd try and keep it and move it....while you're in temporary housing, I would try really hard not to add anything though.

I think I'm going to try to keep it, no sense losing money on everything just to be lazy. Maybe my tank will keep me calm through the process! Hopefully it doesn't drag on forever(we are doing a lot of the work) I will definitely let you know how it goes!
