try to get a tank over 100g so you can get any fish you want.

and btw is that 1000 dollars just for the tank or for everything because if it is for everything then you need to stay under 60g.

 

Depends on what you want. I spend about $500 and fixed up a nice 14g biocube. But i put about $1200 and fixed up a nice 29g biocube. Depends on what your loooking for. you go to a cheaper 40g breeder and get equipment cheaper maybe on craigslist. or you could get lucky and find a whole 75g setup for under 1000.

now my question is should i get my LR from bigals. they have huge amounts of LR in a huge holding tank. and there doesn't seem to be a big demand for it so i think its been sitting in there for a while. so do you think this is good LR or not

 

Honestly, nothing against any of the sponsers here, but I prefer to start a tank with really good dry base rock and only seed with a small ammount of live rock - this will ensure you get great bacterial colony - but at the same time - you only introduce a small chance of bringing in unwanted ocupants - every nook and cranny in LR from someone else is another chance for a bad hitchiker . . .

Get mostly base rock and seed with some LR from a trusted friend, or trusted LFS.

That's just my 0.02.
