The remora was one I liked, I just wish it was clear? I got a Red Sea Berlin X2 Turbo Protein Skimmer last week, but when I tried to hang it on my tank it would not fit over the plastic lip on the tank, and even if it did, the glass tank lid would have been in the way. So I sent it back (at my cost $40) and a restocking fee. So I really want to get the right on this time.

Sometimes you gotta customize your lid. I had to for that same reason with the coralife 125. It will also work in a sump, which I'm planning on doing when I upgrade to a 90 or 125 later this year.

For what ever its worth the tops should be tossed out they will and are causing you problems ..Not a good idea really to use them Cuts out all surface to air action The bad gasses can't escape and are just trapped in there ..Ammonia Nitrates and CO's sulfides and methanes.

I wondered if they might be doing that, what about my goby and Snow flake Eel escaping?

The remora PRO will fit on the frame of a 90, the regular model will not. Id leave my top open too like tangster said, my gf's 10 gallon has a jaw fish and no lid and never no escape.

RE: the tank tops....if you are worried about fish escaping you can get you a piece of egg crate from Lowe's and cut to size and it will rest on the lip of your tank or if you want to get a little neater and fancier finish you can get some window screen and the premade metal pieces, shape, and roll in your screen and wah la you have new tops that allow everything Tangster said to happen and keep the jumpers in.

Thanks Roger, I'll prop my tank lids open a little bit in the front at night if ever becomes a problem. The lids are a close fit, but by no means air tight. There's never any strong smells when I open the lids. How do you tell if it's getting to become a big problem, even with no major smells and water parameter tests are ok?
    Thanks.

I agree < i dont care much for HOB skimmers, they tend to fail/over flow when you NOT at home ,But some people swear by them.

I managed to fix my old Seaclone 100 for now, I don't think it will last. When it is running I have to empty the cup 2 times a day or it bubbles out the breather hole. So i wonder how much better or more would come out with a higher priced model. I am willing to pay more, i just want to do the right thing. Should I wait and get a sump?
