i like the idea of collecting my own stuff, but i also dislike the idea of collecting my own stuff... i think when it came to corals i would frag and leave the mother colony, either that or collect, take it home, frag it and put some back.... just me though.

hahaha u guys :);) thanx for ur replies :) struth, i cacked meself... (crikey now thats aussie) ;D

Hehe, yeah i was thinking that than found out people get the best finds just off the points near beaches, in lagoons - actually more shallow waters... because mostly the things i probably want are reef dwellers (shallow water) ;)
Getting close to catch it might be a problem true.... but maybe not. Last year i snorkeled in Thailand and a few years a ago on the great barrier reef. Both times i was amazed at how easy it was to get close to the fish, half the time i was actually intimidated by them flying towards my goggles. On the great barrier reef i thought it was because the fish were used to people (?) but in thailand my trainer took me to a remote area that rarely gets people and the fish were swimming through my fingers. Maybe it will be a diff story when i actually want to catch one - we'll see! :)

Thanks for the tip mate, I might pm him, thanx :) Ive got loads of questions actually and a half baked plan! The warm water fish don't migrate to Sydney water untill January so ive got lots of research time. U guys are part of my research so I'm appreciating all and any impute :):)

haha, my lung capacity is crap! :thinking2 Anyone got a good DIY on one of these babies?
The CQ-2 twin seater personal submarine
    ;D

I want you all to imagine pictures of people you have seen snorkelling, pretty much anywhere in the world. They are generally with fish. Now imagine a net in there hands. See what im getting at? :)

I agree :) Im not going to go pillaging the reef, im talking about the odd fish and corals/algae or whatevers and will be a good boy

hahahaha hmmmmm. I asked my clown fish if its ok if i catch her brother and she looked at me, something like this: :Looking: which either means she thinks its cool or she wants flakes ;D

    Crikey x2 !!!

    mmmmm.... no comment! ;D

Hey you guys, I'll try to take my camera to the beach in the next couple of days, show u some of the rock pools and stuff we have around the ocean/bay. I think u will get a better picture of what im lucky enough to have access to, its winter here and very cold but should still be some cool'ish stuff around. Ive been to the U.S. twice but not to any beaches/coast... its probably very similar to what you guys have on the west coast? im not sure, sorry to be ignorant.
Sydney is set in a bay next to the ocean. The bay quite literally comes through the center of the city. I live close to the city, close to the bay about 2km from the heads/inlet of the ocean. The bay is very clean, we even see hump back whales just near the inlet/bay. Numerous fish are common in the bay/coast area but like i said im still researching :):):)
    All comments welcome :)

PS: i really wish i didnt title this 'what sydney lfs dont want u to know...' - I take that back, the dudes are just trying to make a living and in some ways i feel bad for some of them. So I take the title back :)

They usually explain that in school (at least in America). Or maybe you could ask your parents; I just don't think that that is a 3reef topic;).

Welcome to 3Reef, by the way.
