One of my lfs guys (a trusted one) tells me that I can put different tangs together in my tank as long as I have at least three. I have read about getting tangs with different body types, but would like to know what experience some of you are having.

I have a 90 gal. tank, a small skopas tang, and a little larger yellow tang, and I'm hoping for no major battles.

    What tangs are you mixing?

    Thanks!

Not sure why he would tell you that you need three ???

I have a Blue Hippo and a Naso and they do just fine together. I would just try to add whatever combination you get to the tank at one time or add the less agressive first.

Hippo and Naso's are less agressive but if you look at a yellow, a clown or a Shoal they tend to be more agressive. Check out this link- when you select the fish, you will see the temperment. Keep that in mind when purchasing.

I had at one time a large hipp, 2 large yellows,A large brown and a sailfin tang. Until the tank crashed I had no issues. I also have 220 gallons so there was alot of swimming room. I dident have any fighting! good luck

You will be fine as long as they have different body types. Two or three doesn't matter...

I have a purple and a juveneile orange shoulder in a 180. Yes you can mix different genus in the same tank.. IF ITS BIG ENOUGH!! Such as zebrasoma and acanthurus or so on.

    Happy mixing!
