So I wake up this morning and this is the first thing I see, I actually had to turn the lights on to get the pic. Ive never seen an acan, or any coral, do this before? Im thinking that it is trying to expand to the bottom portion of the rock, but Ive never seen this before so I cant be sure. Anyone care to add any input?

That's a LONG sweeper isn't it. It's either found something to eat or, like you said it's trying to spread.

I was just going to post that I googled it and someone described a sweeper grabbing a rciordia mushroom and eating it, that would be pretty cool to see although disappointing at the same time. : ) So yeah, I think your right.......its either trying to grow or eat.

*Also, the lights came on and the tentacles went back.

That looks like an acan echinata maybe? I've heard they are super aggressive to coral around them, one reason I won't keep any in my tank. Perfect illustration! :)

Wow thats interesting. This taught me a lot about acans.
I wanted one until now. Will just have to put it far away from others

From what I understand, the echinatas are the agressive ones. I believe the lords, bowerbankis and such arent as agressive.
