I had a clam that I brought home from the gulf that has been in my tank for a few months..well it died some time between last night and this afternoon and was eaten...so i took the shell out (it wasnt a fancy clam or anything) well about an hour or so after i took the shell out..i saw this where there clam used to be...what is it? Looks like a paint brush...doesnt have a tube like a feather duster...that i can see anyways.. any guesses? it is next to one of my king crown snails...

It's called the clam's byssus, or byssal threads.
