What the ??? small three inch crazy fish

    now let me explain why its nto a gurnard that thing has little legs in the front to help support it on the bottom and i dont think a flying fish (as in top of the water close to the air) would have legs TRUST ME

    It doesn't actually fly, they are just called that, Sea robin and sea raven are other names for them, (hence the bird names lol). I agree drew they do look creepy. Do you happen to know how big they get, I'm curious now? lol.

    ive caught some that are about a foot long which is crazy it sucks getting the hook out of them and i still dont think its a gurnard because of markings on its back gurnards have spots while sea robins have lines running over the top of the body

    Definately a sea robin. I have worked as a commercial fisherman and cought too many of those to count. When it was origionally cought was a darker redish color. they tend to turn that brownish color when they are dead or put in a live well.



    FYI I have seen them as large as 2 feet from the ocean.

    oh also in case you havn't noticed they have some spines pointing backwards from their head. you can get some wicked fish poisoning from them if they poke you deep enough. be carefull
