What the &^%$ ???

    I turned on the lights today and theres all this white stringy stuff attacted to my rock drifting in the flow.Its on both front and back of rocks.Tank is in week three of cycle ans still has trace amounts of ammonia.

    Was it dry base rock or live rock? Looks like some die off, or some gunk left on the rocks that is coming off.

    is that a coral on the rock?

    if it is, it looks like its coming from it,sometimes when you disturb a coral (i.e touching it, droping it, too much flow) it gives off that white stringy stuff. Nothing to worry about IME

    no its just a piece of LR from my other tank I put in there to seed some Coraline.Its not coming from there its all over the place.

    well, if thats LR then thats a possibility.. Maybe some die off from that rock that just happened to spread all over.

    or maybe a worm becoming sexual.. not to sure but i doubt it is anything harmful.

    it could also be bacteria... i remember getting web looking things in my tank when it was new. Also harmless.

    I second vermetid snails, but IMO they are a nuisance as their strings can irritate coral.
