I just got a couple new pieces of live rock that are about 8 lbs. a piece. One of them looks like it has tiny feather dusters all over it probably about 7 or 8 of them. I just wanted to ask you guys to make sure that's what they are and not something bad. They are pretty tiny so the picture I posted has one right in the center of the picture. Thanks for the help ~Jamie~

Filter feeders, small feather dusters. real safe. you'll be seeing more of those in time.

oh cool. I just set up the tank a little over a week ago and my lfs had some rock in the back that he said he would sell me for $4 per lb b/c it didn't have any purple algae on it and when I got it home it had those on it. I already have a few pieces that are covered in purple algae and I have been adding purple up so I figured it was a good deal.

I love freebies. I bought a LR once and it had a nice size green star polyps on it, you should see it now!

Funny you should say that. I just bought a nice green star polyp covered rock, and when I took it out of the bag, there was a huge snail on it. He's my newest hitchhiker. Then, when the lights went out and I was observing the purple mat on the closed-up star polyp rock, I saw about a half-dozen brittle stars.

That's one great thing about LR and coral additions. They almost always come with something free! Ain't reef life grand. . .

Your tank is only one month old, not much to expect. Remember that Rome wasnt build in a day. You will see some new things soon enough. Your breaking the reefers number one rule, Patience.
