I recently bought my first coral and was wondering if there was anything I should do now that I have them. Currently the coral is just sitting on the cement block it came with should I remove it or anything?

Depends on the type of coral and where you want to keep it. Do you have a picture? We like pics!!

Not being a jerk as Im a noob myself. But where did you get this coral? Did the people who sold you this coral not offer any advie to you? What type is it? Those are some pretty important questions. Did you research corals before choosing?
Some people drip acclimate there corals, other don't and some even give em a dip before they add them to a tank.

What size tank and lighting do you have?

by cement block i think he means frag plug or a frag disk/tile

depending on the coral and how well it has attached, you can remove it from that if you want.

what kind of coral is it?

Most softies I would leave on there. They grow fast enough to cover it pretty quick. Lots of coral disks have become part of my rock and I couldnt tell you where they ended up. Hard corals I usually remove from the disk unless there encrusted to it. I use superglue gel to secure them onto the rocks where ever I want them.

Hard to tell with the little ones for sure but they look like some kind of zoas, nice! The second one, the ricordea, I left mine attached to the plug and settled it into a LR space low in tank. It opens up enough and has grown to where I can't see the plug unless one of the shrimp crawls on it and it closes up tight. Nice corals by the way!!

I just noticed I'm answering your ID post about algae....funny!! But as for the hitchhikers, I think you could try feeding them a little frozen rotifer mix or frozen cycl-o-peze.
