You can download and print subway maps free from the internet. Just make sure that it's current.

We usually just drive through Austin, so can't help you there, tho it is the capitol of Texas! Does Waco sound familiar? I'm trying to think of places between here and San Antonio. San Antonio has Sea World and the Riverwalk (and the Alamo).

Dallas, depending on where you're staying you could try to make it to the Dallas World Aquarium. It's downtown near where Kennedy was shot. That area (the West End) is very tourist-oriented, but driving downtown sucks. We're having our local reef club meeting at the aquarium tonight, which is why I'm home early. Boyfriend's never been there, so we're going early to do the aquarium first (and not take 2 hours in rush hour traffic). The bad thing about Dallas, is it can take 2 hours to get from one side to the other, and to Fort Worth. If you're staying near DFW airport, Fort Worth is a better bet...head downtown/to the stockyards. They move the longhorns through the stockyard streets twice a day, and you can go see Billy Bobs (huge country bar with live bull riding & concerts), and all the shops in the area. Oh, and the worst traffic in the area is Highway 183, which would be your route to Ft. Worth from DFW LOL.

For cowboy boots and hat, I would head to Cavender's or Shepler's. Certainly don't bother with the place by the Stockyards in Fort Worth (Luskey's), WAAAAAAY overpriced. You can get good deals at the other 2 places, and there should be at least one in any major city (Dallas, Fort Worth, Waco, Austin, San Antonio). If it looks like a chain western wear store, go there LOL.

ok, i'll get a decent map and probably stick to the manhattan area in ny, sounds like theres more than enough to keep us busy there! if theres an opening tho i'll see if we can head to the long island aquarium, the distance still scares me a bit as i can see it taking a full day. have got a nyc bus & subway maps app on my phone but think a paper one will be easier to navigate. the tour buses sound like a good bet. fire works should be great with that many people around too.
waco doesnt ring any bells either :/ i got a name last night but didnt write it down soooo i kinda forgot it lol.
billy bobs sounds like alot of fun! had to google a 'longhorn' and wow! will keep an eye out for those! hope i dont run out of money before cavenders, i think i want one of each belt buckle on their website haha
all this insider info should make for an especially awesome trip :D
    THANKS EVERYONE!

    New York -

There are plenty of things to do, but since you'll be there for a week, you can fit a few things in...

One of my favorite restaurants is Veselka on 2nd Ave... they are open all hours and probably have the best perogie selection in the world. If you're out drinking late, they are a good place to visit to soak up the alcohol ;)

Katz's Deli is amazing if you like reuben sandwiches.

The MOMA is a MUST see if you like art, even in the slightest.

I'd spend a day taking your girl through the east village, there are plenty of shops and boutiques there that you both will enjoy, and you'll get a real feel for NY culture.

Check out the Gershwin Hotel, it's one of my favorite, albeit quirky and somewhat chic, hotel to stay, not to mention it's relatively inexpensive.

we spend the last night in la if that counts? lol. will get in pretty late so not sure how much we'll get to do that night but i think we fly out pretty late the next day so should have most of a day to kick around. looking at staying in beverly hills and have read good things about rodeo drive or venice beach? depending on funds left by then!
alright, the 'other place' in texas is.... fredericksburg! looks pretty small on google so theres a good chance it will mostly involve meeting her relatives, which will be pretty cool anyway :) i think we'll be in dallas a couple days so will push to check out alot of the rad things there. after looking at the cavenders website i'm pretty pumped to get into one of those and cowboy up! (i am the LEAST cowboy customer they willl ever encounter so will no doubt get a few laughs :D lol)
getting pretty excited about this now!
wish i could bring some fish back, theyre soooo much cheaper over there!

If you're into choppers, Orange County Choppers is about 1.5 hrs from NYC. The new store is a great place to visit.
Mirage has a huge auqarium as well in Vegas.

If you go the the New England Aquarium, it's right next to the North End and Quincy Market. This is a great area. Spend some time walking around and find a good Italian restaurant or something in the North End . Maybe even take a horse and carriage ride ;) Very touristy, but great place.

Fredericksburg is a great little town with tons of shops and food. Lots of arts and crafts. It really is a beautiful part of the Texas hill country. If you have time and are in to amazing geological formations, then you need to go see enchanted rock. It's 17.7 miles or 24 minutes from Fredericksburg. I would say google it but pictures just do not do it justice.
