I find it hard to believe that the selection and price of fish is better in the States than in Australia, right next to the great barrier reef... which is where many of the most desirable fish and corals come from...

I would wager it's much better here in the States, TBH. Just because Australia has some nice Acans and lots of clownfish doesn't mean they have anything from the rest of the Indo-Pacific area, the Red Sea, Hawaii, or the Caribbean, which we definitely have in the States. I would also wager that their environmental laws regarding imports of wild species are stricter, and would prevent such a wide selection from being available.

Either that, or they're more lax because anything that can survive in that area of the world has to be badass enough to stay. ;D

If you have any time in LA: tar pits and accompanying museum (Can't think of the name), Rodeo drive, Chinese theater and Walk of Fame, Venice Beach is really fun, driving through Beverly Hills, there are lots of pretty beaches...

I had to google perogie and reuben sandwiches, but man, they sound really good. Could see them going down very well after a few drinks! Lol. The reuben makes me think of man vs food, does anyone watch that there? I'd never finish any of it but always makes me hungry
The moma looks pretty good, i can see us ending up in there at some stage. Oh and the met? i'm pretty sure i'll be told we're going there too lol. East village sounds like a definite winner too
Starting to wish we were going for alot longer!!!
Occ would be rad to visit, maybe i'd get to see paul sr blow up at someone! Lol or hit them up for a designer job ;) haha
The quincy market building looks good, theres already been talk of girls doing shopping in boston so hopefully that will fit into their plan.
Glad to hear theres lots of food in fredericksburg. All the food i've seen from america looks fantastic, i'm probably going to come back 4 sizes bigger lol. Enchanted rock sounds like something i'd just want to be able to say i've been to, the fact that it also looks cool would make it even better lol.
I remember the tar pits from that disaster movie they were in!... dantes peak maybe? But they look further away than some of the bike shops i was too scared to vist lol. Might have to look into hiring a car for the day

We do have some pretty crazy import laws here, i havent looked into them too deeply but from what i understand, noone can import any corals or plantlife (eg. florida rics are specifically illeagal, and bringing back some chaeto would get me into a world of trouble) seems wholesalers can import fish but there must be a bit involved as the prices of some things can get a bit crazy
Some of the things i think i want over here like a blood shrimp will cost me 160 each ($27 on live aquaria!) or catalina goby i think i saw for $140 ($24 on live aquaria!)
Those are just some examples and i'm sure there would be other things we get great deals on like maybe aussie corals youd have to imagine, but after using live aquaria to think of a stock list for my next tank i was a bit surprised when i went looking for local prices. The expensive things may well be justified to, i just havent looked into it enough yet. - anyway, back on topic! lol

Hey if you like to drink you can look into a boose cruise around the. NY city, usually great music and drinks..in the other parts of NY there are things to do but not really unless you have extra time..they are always doing stuff to our subways so always look for alternate routs if your subways line is closed..you could take a ride on the SI ferry if you want to see one legged pigieons..lol....walking through the village..times square those are fun..just explore its not as bad here as most think...

Of course. That doesnt mean they have all that stuff available for hobbyists, though. They aggressively protect their reefs with laws, which is part of the reason that aussie corals in the trade are far more expensive than their counterparts from other regions.
