Alright, I started a tank at the beginning of this year and yes have made some mistakes being new and trying to learn. And also from listening to LFS people! Anyways, right now we have a 29gal with..
    1 Valentini Puffer
    1 Clownfish
    2 Blue/Green Chromis
    3 Hermit Crabs
    1 Chocolate Chip Star
    1 Peppermint Shrimp
    1 Pink Tip Anemone
Setup: live sand, all dead rock, aquaclear 20-50 filter, marineland powerhead 170, HO dual 2 T5 bulb lights, heater.
Well, I have had everything for months, except the Clownfish was added about 3-4 weeks ago. The puffer will not leave him alone!! I have found everywhere these are okay together. Mind you everything is tiny for now(puffer is like an inch) except the Clownfish almost looks full grown. So, I was recommended to take everyone from the tank and move everything around and put everyone back in with the puffer last. Well, I went to do this two days ago after buying an anemone to maybe ocuppy the Clown and noticed the puffer has ich! I've had him 4 months! Is it from stress?! Anyways I went through and last night I decided to move it all around.. I took them out added more rock(no LR though) and changed things up. I put everyone back in and within an hour it seemed they ALL had ich! The puffer turned black and belly up all night. I turned it up to 82* and lowered the salt a tad by doing a 20% water change. I wake up today and the puffer is swimming around again! :) And he ate for the first time in two days! Everyone else looks like they have half the amount of spots they did last night also! So, did I do everything right here or what?? Please give me advice and tell me what I did wrong or need to do. I am still learning. It looks as if my CCS has been picked on by the puffer too. Should I get rid of him? I am reading a lot they are not good stars to have. I wanted another Clownfish eventually, but now I'm scared to add anything since the stress and now ich almost killed the puffer! Oh and right now I am feeding only garlic flakes to the fish. But I been doing frozen mysis shrimp and squid and baby snails for the puffer.

first off your anemone is a condy anemone, they come from the atlantic and all clowns and clown hosting anemones comes from the pacific. so in other words it will not host your clown and will probably end up eating some of the tank inhabitants. as for the ich it was probably there all along just the stress of the rearrange made it flare up. best way IMO to fix it is to just keep things healthy and fed a good diet. if it gets worse you may ened to quarantine and medicate.

The Chocolate Chip star probably isn't responding so well to the lowered salinity. While they are considered a hardy when kept in an established tank, they don't really like parameter swings. As far as keeping him or not, he's fine for a FOWLR (though your tank may be a tad too small for him when you consider that his maximum aldult size is just over 1 foot) but they are known to munch on zoas, mushrooms and the like. On top of that, they generally don't do well in tanks with predators that may decide to make a snack out of them (puffers, triggers, etc.).

Puffers are aggresive especially in small tanks.Unfortunately rearranging rockwork will probably not curb this behavior. What kind of Clown is it?

The Anemone may prove to be troublesome. In a small tank with a little puffer like that it may end up a meal.

If it were my tank I would trade the Starfish and the Anemone back in. Not all Anemone types host all Clownfish. While there is a chance your Anemone might, the chance is slim based on the Anemone type. Condy's have a powerful sting that is not welcome by some Clownfish and deadly to other fish.

Good job on enhancing the diet for the puffer. Just try to keep your hands out of the tank(very hard to do) and avoid moving the rock around except when absolutely needed.

    Welcome to 3reef.

Thank you all so much for replying!! And being nice and not biting my head for my mistakes, lol. I know how some fourms are. :/ Anyways, so the lady at the LFS told me that anemone would be good! Ugh!!! We had to drive a little over an hour(no saltwater in town) to get this thing. Right now it planted half under a rock. Should I really take it back?? All they had was maxi/mini carpets(for $40), bubble tips($50), and long tenticules($90). Which would work? Are those good prices??
P.S. All fish still looking better. :)

Sorry I forgot.. the clown was sold to me as a false percula, but honestly I'm not sure. He is a darker orange not that yellow/orange. And he has a black spot on his face. Kinda like he is mismarked.

    Ouch,

Not the best anemone for smaller tanks.

If you get another anemone go with either the BTA or the LTA. Maxi-mini's are always expensive but you can find them cheaper, you have to pay shipping though.
The BTA price is good the LTA price is a tad high.

Sad bc my clownfish. :( They said they would take the anemone back(thank goodness!). Now the puffers stress is good. I will prob get a small QT tank for the hermits, star, and shrimp. And then lower the salt in the main one to rid this ich! Hopefully it goes away. Puffer is still eating. :)
