I have a 125 gal setup. I have a aqua medic skimmer. 2 emperor 400s and 3 hydor circulation pumps 2 are 850 gph and the other is a 1400 gph. I have 2 3 foot t5 fixtures. No coral 1 clown 1 PJ cardinal 1 naso tang 1 emperor angelfish. I have $200 now and will have about 700 more in a few weeks. I'm thinking of doing a sump but I haven't made up my mind yet. Just wondering what you guys think i should do. Wife also wants more fish she says the tank looks empty. She wants another tang but, I don't think we need 2 in the same tank. Thanks!!

Are you considering doing a reef tank?

    Or staying with fish only?

Some beginner corals, like mushrooms ricordea. Whould LOVE to have a anemone one day. But, I'm still a beginner.

Edit: I will be getting a ro/di unit tired of buying water. So, I will have about 700 total to spend

Sump/Fuge would make future considerations/additions (corals, fish, reactors etc.) so much easier. Plus if your wife gets her way the added bioload with the messy tangs should have more water to dissapate nutrients. Adding a sump/fuge gives you a whole other ecosystem to play with also. You can pick up a 40g breeder pretty cheap and DIY the sump/fuge for under $100, move your skimmer to the sump, add a calcium reactor and you are good to go. Maybe even enough for your softies, an ATO and a lighting upgrade. You can do alot with $700. Wish I had an extra $700 to play with right now. ;)

I would most likely start with the sump, and then you could probably add another tang.

What kind of lighting do you have?

As for corals, you have an emperor angel in the tank. That makes corals pretty much a no-go.

I saw many tanks with emperor angel and coral... If angel are fed frequently this should be no problem with SPS/most softies... But open brains, acans and other meaty corals may be a problem... I personally haven't seen any fish touching torch/frogspawn/hammers...

I think the emporer is his HOB filter.
BUt the ro/di is good and then the sump....an extra 700 would be awsome to have. Have fun if you DIY the sump you should have plenty left over for some coral and fish.
