What to do with an empty 10 gallon tank sitting next to me display tank?

Take into account that I am not truly comfortable with this tank being fully loaded with water. It was my first tank from about 5 years ago and the silicone looks a bit funky in addition to it has gone through a lot of moves and been banged around a bit.

Sounds like a perfect tank to have around for a hospital or quarantine tank! Just slap some fresh silicone on the joints to ensure no leakage. You may even consider utilizing it for sump purposes. In this case, it would not be filled all the way. Either way, it is a great thing to have lying around if you have the space!

Fix it up, then put in a smaller member of mantis shrimp. Dream nano tank right there

I'd consider using it for a smaller species of scorpion or lizard. :D

Seriously, you can get a new one on sale at Petco for $10 if you need it. Makes them hardly worth any effort to rebuild, or the potential risks if you don't.

Not a bad idea. I do have an extra heater at the moment also in case i needed it. I just dont know if I want to cut all that silicone out. Wouldnt I have to cut ALL of it out on the inside of the tank and then all at the same time resilicone everything inside? Otherwise if u only silicone certain parts it will dry and the future silicone wont adher to it.

As far as the sump goes, I think a 10 gallon tank might be a bit small.

Yea i know I can get a new one for $10. But i just dont like things laying around and either I find a use for this, or its tossed (which i dont like doing).

Im looking for something fairly low maintenance. Was thinking maybe fixin it up and doin a FW low tech planted.
