I just recently got some LR for my new BC29 from a guy that was breaking his 100 down due to Military Re-Location. He didn't have a lot left so I go the best pieces I could find that I thought I could use.

Now, I'm not sure that I did a good job...I've been messing with different things over the past few days and i just can't come up with anything I like...

This picture shows the latest configuration...(sorry for poor quality) the one thing you can't tell is that in between the mound is hollow.... you can see through the cracks from front to back and there's a power head concealed on the back wall. Most of the pieces are stacked smallest tip in down.. Also, the water is a bit cloudy because i stirred up the sand a bit.

My goal is to have more corals so should i just pile it up and slope to the front...or something... but this won't leave good flow through it or space behind it.....as it is there is space all around it.

One problem I'm having is he gave me two pieces that are real branchy.... and I don't know what to do with them... i've thought of just removing them all together....right now they are sitting on top.

Anyway, I'm new to SW so I'm asking for opinions or ideas...

    Thanks,

You could get some epoxy and glue them in any shape you wanted...
    Just a thought.

    OUCH!... LOL thats cold!

But since you looking for opinions,

Spread it out some, as far as the Branch ones, lay them flat on top hanging off one side. It will look natural.

Like KOgle said though, get some epoxy and glue them puppies! that way they cant fall and damage your tank or kill something like Mine did a few weeks ago in one of my seahorse tanks. :(

I was thinking like Gazog, take the branched pieces off the top and lay then diagonal from the center to the outside, you are lucky in that it doesn't look like you have any livestock yet, I just rearranged my tank with 7 fish, hermits, crabs and corals

also, try to not have one pile in the middle, maybe have two smaller piles at either corner, catecorner to each other. If the pieces are too big, take them out and break them up

You really want to have like a tier effect I would start big pieces on the bottom and tier up the back wall giving yourself a couple of platforms for corals you dont want them stacked up so tightly. I was worried about flow behind my rockwork so I have a korillia #3 behind my whole rockwork wall just to prevent a dead spot back there you could always put a powerhead ( small one) behind to do the same thing. Don't get stressed everyone reworks rock when starting up a tank. just make sure it is stable and play around with it. remember that some corals you pick up will be on a small rock so you want to have room to place them.

You may want to lay out each piece on a towel infront of you and kinda envision in your head what you would like it to look like, what kind of basic shape or structure, then try to piece it together, if you dont use every piece, its not a big deal, you can always see if your LFS or a buddy will trade pieces of similar size.
