    Hey guys,

So, if all goes well during revisit day, I'm probably off to boarding school across the country in NH. Thing is, Im not sure what to do with my tank...Its my pride and joy and I love it a lot. I'd be back home about every 2 months... My parents are not particularly involved in my hobby so they're trying to hint at taking it down. I can probably convince them to do semi frequent water changes, I'd show them how to do it and all. Right now I'm thinking about keeping the stocking low and just making sure they can do top offs and stuff. All of this would be in september.

    Thoughts and opinions?

    Thanks!

well if your tank is established then you can prolong WC for 2 months just wont see lots of growth IMO also if you dont have lots of coral and dont have to dose with anything i would see if they will do top offs daily and feed everything else should be okay minus the maint you really should be doing the skimmer cleaning and other stuff like that. Good luck i hope it all turns out well

Get a HUGE fuge, nice skimmer, low stock and an ATO. Then it would be ALMOST maintenance free other than pwc. Could you have a lfs/tank maintenance company take care of it?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Member Fishyfinder was in the same boat and his parents took over the basic husbandry while he was away at college.

Me I started fresh water tanks at boarding school. Simple, HOB filter, fluoresent lighting, simple fish and a plant and some snails.

I usually encourage others to enjoy their educational experiences and take a break from the hobby but I never followed that advice.
