Those are T8 lights, definitely not strong enough for carpets. Those lights would be good for fish only, unless I'm mistaken. See what kind of deal you can get on metal halide lights at your LFS. You have about a 50G bowfront? Your tank looks fairly deep enough to need MH, at least 250W. They aren't cheap, but that is what carpets need. I would suggest taking the carpet back if you can't get the lighting right away. It will need all the help it can get since your system is so young.
