    Hi all,

I recently purchased 2- baby Gold Striped Maroon Clowns..............I was wondering what i should be feeding them because they do not like the pellets they spit them right out.........They like the little brine/shrimp i feed them but would like to switch it up the food every other time I feed...Does anyone have any other food they feed there clowns............

    Thanx Adam

my clowns really go for the Aquarium flake food, I use the OSI brand...they dig it.
I also feed many other types for my other critters...but the clowns really go after the flake?

my clowns will eat anything i put in the water. or bugs that land on the surface. they will eat everything to the point it is hard to feed anything else in the tank.

my clowns are ocellaris clowns though...

OSI marine flakes has everything they need and you do realize they get large and aggressive and when or if they pair off you will have little else to be in that tank with them ..

If they are wild caught then chances are they are not babies. Clowns can spend 20 years as juveniles in the wild if a female and alpha male are present. Your fish could easily be 10 years old.

Flake is not a balanced diet. High in fat. There are plenty of articles on a mixed diet for a community tank, should check them out. You also must check out articles on how to pair up maroons. Very good chance that those two will try and kill each other at some point. Pairing up maroons is not as simple as any of the other clown species.

FYI, in the wild, 70% of a clownfishes diet consists of algae and pods, in that order

With all my fish they just have to get used to what I feed. They almost never take to it immediately but they see the other fishes eating it and they get hungry enough after awhile that eventually they get on board. Just keep feeding the pellets is what I would say.
