lol. Looks like the vote is to go with a mantis. ;) But I think something more original and less common would be cooler. I think I'm going to get an angler for my 55g.

A mantis sounds cool and if you wanted a fish a Catalina Gsoby is nice and colorful...or stock with species that live in intertidal water so parameters aren't such a problem.

yea seems like mantis is a popular vote, they seem really popular so maybe ill go towards an angler/frogfish since their not as common

that could be a possiblity too :)

    C. argi - a harem of 3 (One male, two females) would be very cool and colorful. Throw some hermits and snails in there for a clean up crew and you'd be in business.

Failing the argi, (Pigmy angels btw), what about some cardinal fish? A couple red spots or copper's would be pretty cool too.

I'd stay away from anglers/frogs in a 20 - they produce a ton of waste and are really pretty boring fish if they are not feeding.

Yeah I know...the tank tends to be a bit cooler or too warm so really something that lives in tidal pools would be better (shrimp, urchins, & some fish can handle extremes better than others).

If she could use a fan to keep it cooler in the summer then the Catalina Goby would be cool....could still add a shrimp too...just keep the tank on the cooler side.

Lots of good ideas here...with your experience I'd say go for something truly exotic. Personally, I like the idea of an angler/frogfish.

To add to the mix- a clingfish/urchin arrangement might be cool. I've also seen a bluestripe pipefish (Doryrhamphus excisus)...really cool...if you're up for the challenge.

Yea I'm thinking of leaning more towards an angler, they may be boring but they seem like really neat fish

got to do more research on them, get my credit card down and look on DD because i don't my lfs' get them in

they arent very common at most lfs. DD has some awesome red ones though. the color may change depending on what is in the tank. i recommend getting some red macro algae from John at reef cleaners, like red gracilaria. that way the red one might stay red. :D just trying to help.
