I went with a 4" kitty litter and chaeto in my fuge. I started with two baseball size clumps of chaeto and now they are the size of basketballs. I just took one clump out and gave it back to a lfs. The other one's gonna get a trim job and i'll give the remainder to a friend. I hear chaeto does good in smaller quantities but i'm not 100% positive on that.

Sea horses would eliminate one of the main benefits of a fuge, namely the production of pods which fish in the DT can eat.

Also, sea horses are mostly cooler water fish, and require temperatures not normally seen in reef tanks.

Some people keep some snails down there (I have a few limpets), possibly some crabs or shrimp (shrimp release eggs into the water regularly when kept in pairs, good filter feeder food), small starfish. You can also keep fish down there in a pinch, if there's a problem with aggression or anything.
