Hello I have a 38 gallon IM reef tank, I need some advice on what to stock, it is going to be mainly a reef tank and I only want 4 fish total. I currently have one neon dottyback and I had a long fin fairy wrasse till it jumped out this morning and I found it dead, so that being said I do not want any fish that might jump (even though it does have a glass lid) and I do not want any fish that will move the sand around. What do you think?

I like dwarf angels and of course, I don't think one really has a reef without at least one clown fish :)

+1 on the clown, they just make everything look like a reef. I would definitely have a clown. Black Ocellaris clowns are cool, I used to have one and loved it. Black with an orange face. Mandarin Dragonetes are very colorful and they look amazing in tanks. Not sure if your tank will support one because they live off pods. You can always buy pods and add them to the tank to make sure the dragonet has enough to eat. A small tang would look nice. Not sure if you can find one small enough for that tank but some places sell "tiny" fish.

Clownfish are always entertaining especially if you get a pair. You could get two juveniles and one would eventually become female as they grow. You could have trouble with the dottyback harrasing newcomers, especially since it is already esteblished in the tank.I wouldn't add a tang to that tank, even a small one needs more than a 38gal. tank and would have to be rehomed before long if it was to survive. If you would like to try an angel a flameback or cherub might do okay though they might pick at corals.a yellow watchman or a midas blenny both have alot of character and would add color.

    No top.
    No fish.
IMO it's irresponsible to have fish with no top, Neon dotties can be feisty, usually I'd recommend them to be added later.
    How about...
    Neon Dotty
    Small clown
    Dwarf Angelfish
    Hawkfish
