    Hi all,

My xenia is rapidly taking over like kudzu. To frag it should I scrape it off from its base? Also, I should sever any ties to the mother colony I suppose. What tool should I use? An exacto knife?

On this note, anyone in the NYC area want some xenia? It's brown and super vivacious. It's really pretty and pulses. My friend calls it "the muppet-hands coral." heh.

i use a razor to cut it to pieces as desired.

you can also use a razor to kind of get up under it and peel it off the rock.

I find to peel this slimy thing off rock I have to kind of hold it between my first and middle finger knuckles and thumb (if you've ever played "I got your nose" as a kid - it's that kind of grip I'm describing)

It comes right back when I peel it off. You may have to apply kalk paste ove super glue over where it was.

A pocket knife or the blunt nosed l1st grade scissors a razor blade or box cutter or finger nails and a good pinch and or a weed eater is good just snip it off at the base and toss cutting in to a tank of rubble and it will attach its self But warning that carp will wipe your tank out I'd never have another piece of it in one of my tanks .

hahaha...love the "I got your nose" description peredhil! Thanks for the advice all. Xenia sure does look cool as it waves and pulses, but I can see how it's going to be a pain too.

I can't be bothered with cutting and scraping and peeling.
I just put rock rubble up against it and it climbs up onto the rubble, already mounted and it separates itself.
Then I sell it to the LFS.

Thats what I did. It was surprising how much I credit you can build up at lfs if they will take it in. Every few weeks I was taking in 3 or 4 frags. Tank near paid for itself. Now I cant keep it alive, but everything else is thriving.
