I am about to buy my first camera for taking pics of my tank, corals, and just for fun shooting! Right now i am about $50 away from getting the Nikon D3100! I can't wait and after i get it, i am going to start saving up for the 55-300mm lens. I was just wondering.....what type camera do you have and how do you like it?

Nikon D300. Be careful with the 55-300 lens groups. They suffer in quality if you are planning on tank shots.

Nikon D40 (DSLR) and I absolutely love it :)
You might not want the 55mm-300mm lense though because the pictures might not be very sharp. Any Nikon DSLRs are VERY good though.

D40 and D90. You should probably get a different lens though. Probably some bad distortion at both ends. I'm a FORMER photocommunications major and haven't shot in a while, so I'm not too familiar with that model(or up to date with other equipment). Is it like a D40 replacement? Either way, cant go wrong with the Nikon. Nikonians all the way!
