    i have several

    Started off with tap water
    anemone with T8 lighting
Closed tank and air pump failed (fatal!!)
    Overstocking
MH lighting (this was a mistake cos my tank is too small)
Not plumbing a hangon refugium properly (leak!)
    Messed around with filtration consistantly

Altho - now i've learnt from my expensive mistakes and i can quite happily say, im happy with my 31 cube and all its contents. My next tank will run perfectly :)

    Buying a "cool" mushroom frag.

Doesn't sound so bad until 1 mushroom multiplies into about 100 in a 24g tank. It is soo bad that they detach from the rock, float in the water column, and attatch somewhere else, to multiple again.. Very ennoying..

Telling myself(and my wife) that converting from freshwater to saltwater wouldn't cost much since we already had the tank and stand.

One I think of is buying a used skimmer as our first skimmer. We had a Berlin something on there, and that thing was a peashooter compared to the reef octopus we have in the tank now :D Would have been much easier if we had just gone with the RO Skimmer to begin with.

Another thing that would have been easier is having a refugium much earlier. And having a seperate one, out sump is kind of tight on space. But this isn't a mistake, just a minor inconvenience.

Also, I wouldn't mind having maybe a 6 bulb T5 fixture. That way I feel I'd be able to house alot more variety of corals and the growth rate would be faster. However, this is merely a comfort factor at the moment, because our Sundial Fixture has been able to handle everything we've put in there. All our SPS are on the top of the aquascape just to be safe, though. ;)

My first inhabitant death- a long spine sea urchin. He starved. I was/am a noob and thought it would eat what the fish ate. I was devastated. I even buried him in the backyard!
