What would you replace a clown pair with?

My o. Clown pair continually harass my coral so it's time for a change. There are two options, which would you chose?

1. Replace both male and female
2. Replace just the female and keep male

The male seems very colorful, which is the reason I consider keeping him, but once the female is gone I fear his color would diminish.

Which reef safe fish would you consider to replace the clowns in a 40 gallon tank?

Right now, without the clowns, my stocking list is:
Flasher Wrasse
Mandarin Goby
Benggai Cardinal x2

 

I think this is entirely up to you as to what tickles your fancy The fish you currently keep are all very peaceful so you want another peaceful fish for sure.
I love Yellow-Head Jawfish. They make little burrows and are very fun to watch when in a tank with other more peaceful fishes. For bright color and lots of personality there are Midas Blenny. Another of my personal favorite fish. You could always go with a NON-traditional pair of clowns like skunks or clarkii clownfish. Hope this gives you some ideas! Best of luck!

2 PJ Cardinals would be cool.

 

Thanks for the suggestions so far. I'm really looking for something that is blue or yellow color. I really like the idea of a Midas Blenny, but it'd be a miracle if the LFS ever had one.

 

PJ Cardinal is kinda yellow.

 

IMO yellowtail damsels are peaceful and really colorful

 

I would get a pair of firefish.
Yellowtail Damselfish are not peaceful.

 

really mine is extremly peaceful never attacked any of my fish and is not very territorial

 

Friefish are cool. I used to have 2.
