We'll Awhile ago I bought a frag tank since it was really good deal I already built a stand and its in my room.

Thing is I don't have many corals in my main tank and only like 2 small colonies so there is nothing to frag anyway, also I don't wanna buy more corals till I get new lights and thats money i don't have right now.

Also theres so much other **** i gotta buy like things for my freshwater tank got the go cart motor back from my dads friend so ill need stuff to get that going and jus so much other random stuff i need.

Ive dreamed of fragging corals and stuff since I started this hobby and before but as of now just don't have the money and too many other things I have to buy before I can buy more corals to frag in the first place and the thing is I don't have a job and jus make money from yard work and selling stuff so I dont know when ill get the money. And also i freaking graduate in less than 3 yrs so buy the time i buy all the stuff i need who knows when thatll be and dont wanna set it up like a year before i graduate or something that would be pointless cause by the time it was cycled and everything wouldn't even be worth setting up and also one more tank to bring with me to collage.

So im kinda just thinking of selling the frag tank with the stand I made and buying a new light for my main tank but at the same time I dont want to since been wanting a frag tank of my own for forever and I could get a cool fish.

Guess it boils down to i have to many hobbies for my own good and no money.

Also my corals look like crap now under the light i have now and almost no growth and my chalice died so not gonna spend more money on corals that will just do bad

    too many freaking expensive hobbies

also if i sold the frag tank I would wanna get something out of it id rather just have it sit around empty then sell it for like nothing cause then i still couldnt afford a light and my dream would be gone

Also have crapy bulbs in my light so maybe buying good bulbs would be better then buying a new light but dont know how much of a difference it would make and good bulbs are expensive

well i would honestly not set up another tank..
i have 2 tanks set up ( of 3 that i had), and of those 2 only 1 will be in college with me ( the 29G)
i had to take down a tank because i cant leave all the work to my parents. so now they are only taking care of my 150.
although im keeping my equipment for later just in case i need it some day.

im moving to college on saturday, and honestly im having second thoughts about having a tank in here since idk if i can take care of it the same way i do here...

I've got the same problem. lol:-/ Photography, model trains, bicycling, & this hobby, just to name a few.

If it would only be up for a year, I don't think I would do it. I am questioning redoing my 29g which will be up for 2 years.

Well, I know exactly what you're talking about sollie. If you're going to school, in my honest opinion, I would definitely concentrate & focus all of my attention on school. For me, it was inevitable.

Also, there are times that I've kicked myself in the rear for not planning for tomorrow....or fear of tomorrow (sort of).

If you really like something that "rocks your boat" & I'm talking about hobbies & stuff, try your best to make it part of your life. Don't hesitate.

I live in a small 1bdr. house while I'm here helping my Mom out. My little 9 X 10 ft livingroom is now my fishroom. Nothing to look at, as in "showtank" venue, but very functional. I know I won't be here forever, so I raise these corals with the understanding that the pieces in these tanks now within 2yrs, will be some of the finest corals around for my "showtanks" after I move back home.

Once school is outta the way, then hopefully you can buy the best lights & nicest corals available. You gotta make room & plans. I think you are thinking it out pretty good, but I wouldn't drop plans, hopes & dreams completely. Try for a better light. Small is OK. Some super colorful palys & colorful Ricoreas are cool...coupla nice damsels.
You gotta look at it from a different angle. OK "collage" boy? ;)

Theres no point in starting a frag tank when your main tank isnt set up properly. You need new lights your your display tank, which means, if you start up a frag tank you will also need new lights for it, plus all the other equipment that you would need. So i would sell the frag tank and concentrate on your display tank. You can still keep your dream of having a frag tank, you just have to wait a bit longer for it. You can always get one later when you are in college and have a part time job. Hope all goes well for you. :)

Agreed, sell the frag tank, buy a new light. I don't know how you guys have tanks at school, just the hassle of moving in alone was bad enough not to mention having to bring a tank, livestock and gallons of water with you.

If you live in a dorm, that would be the biggest headache ever....especially when you have to move out in between every semester, and go to a new dorm.

thanks for the opinions guys ill prob get rid of the frag tank might try selling it on here what do you think a good price would be? I would put it on the atlanta reef club but that is where i bought it from and i dont want someone to be like thats way to much you only paid blank for it a couple months ago then everyone hate me. or i might try craigslist

Also someone mentioned that my main tank isnt set up properly only thing is I need new lights and if i kept the frag tank i would use the old light on that and haha know i spelled the c word wrong...dont know how to spell it.

Also don't plan on living in a dorm and Ill prob tear all my tanks down at the point and get a small tricked out nano
