    I posted bit back about identifying this as algae or sponge. Pretty sure it is algae. it has grown 2x it's original size. One person who has an algae page thought it might be a fire coral, but it is semi-transparent and very balloon-like. Doesn't close-up at nighttime. Anyway, here is another pic.

    I had the same thing in my tank a few years ago. It was a red algae.

    Actually there is a smaller growing behind it, but I wouldn't know how to remove it for fear of popping it. At the rate it is growing I would expect within another month for it to have spread. Check back then. Might do a trade for a few zoos or a shroom if you are serious.

    How long did it last and did you observe anything special about it? Any info would be great. This one (rather two-a small one behind the larger) started out 3/16" 3-4 weeks ago and is now 1"+. Thanks. Mike
