i have two o. clowns and two chromis and about a 100 snails of different kinds. i am looking for a good beginner fish that will help control algea but wont starve of lack of algea either. i had a lawnmower blenny before but he died a couple of day after i got him. i believe due to an illness he already had. i was told that they really needed a well established tank which mine is only a few months old. so what would you guys suggest?

how big is your tank if its like a 100g then you can get a foxface eventually but the lawnmower blenny is probubly the best. try on eof them again and hopefully it wont starve and even if it does get skinny you can put a nori clip in. they are the fish that is the least prone to starving. id try it again

    What size tank?

I wouldn't recommend the blenny, TBH. Lots of people have them starve to death once the algae is gone, since they're very particular about their diet, and don't switch to nori or other algae well. If the tank is big, I'd go with a tang.

A lawnmower blenny works really well, but depending on how big your tank is you can try a sea hare they are amazing they are probably the best bet in my opinion at getting rid of algae of all kinds
