    1. Eh, if it's the marineland fixture I'm thinking of that leaves a lot to be desired. Unless they changed it...
Any idea on the type of leds used in it, wattage, number of leds, color spectrum, blue/white ratio? If you can't find information for all that on this particular fixture without ripping it apart, its probably crap.

    2. I'm personally a fan of instant ocean. I recently switched over to their reef crystals blend which is geared more toward lps/sps tanks. The regular salt mix should be fine for you.

Someone had mentioned that these types of corals that you have can/will get to the point that they grow so much that they're almost a weed. This has been my experience as well. Once you have decent lighting, good husbandry, ect i believe you'll find this to be your case as well. I have to trim back my mushrooms about every 6 months right now. And when I say trim I mean harvest! Last time I got around 50 - 75 off just a couple rocks. Could easily get that from my tank now x3.

FWIW, I have a 29H softy tank, and I use Instant Ocean salt.

    I have 4 fish that I feed 2 - 3 times daily.

    My flow is 20x.

I have a Current Nova Extreme 2x24w T5HO fixture. I switched to ATI Coral Plus bulbs when I first got my corals. They had trouble acclimating to the PAR level, and really didn't do much for months. When I finally went back to the original 12000K and 460nm bulbs, they suddenly exploded. My Toadstool and Cabbage Leathers doubled in size in one month, and now I have Mushrooms popping up all over the tank.

Yep, that good ol' plain instant ocean. It's honestly the most consistent I have found.

Since we're both import car guys, it would be the equivalent of adding that fancy fuel additive that supposedly gives better gas mileage and cleans your engine.

I'd dose the following if needed

Alk, cal, mag and also perform 20% monthly water changes.
