What's a normal amount of bubbles entering the sump?

I've been working and tweaking my Eshopps overflow all day, experimenting with all different pipe sizes and silencer devices to reduce the noise and bubbling.

It's getting much better. But I still do have what looks to me like a LOT of bubbles reaching the sump.

I don't think it's too much to worry about. IMO its probably just that the water doesn't completely fill the tube as its going down, so there's air in it. No harm done. I wouldn't worry.

Other than the possibility of salt spray accumulating, the bubbles are great for gas exchange and replenishing oxygen to your water.

I agree with coral reefer. I dont know the bio load you have in your tank, but oxygenation also helps when you keep a heavily stocked tank. Mine is pretty much packed and having a lot of bubbles in the tank from my overhang skimmer helps a ton!
    You should be fine.

Thanks guys. As far as bio load, there is none yet - that's fresh water you're looking at. The tank is out on the porch being "perfected" before it comes inside.

I think I'll put a larger pipe around that one, to contain the bubbles and reduce the salt spray. I saw a pic where a guy did that; it looked like it worked great.
