Luckily my LFS QT's all the fish I order from him in his store. I have a ten gallon tank set aside for emergency's at my house. This thread has made me sit and stare at all my fish for the better part of the day and make sure everything is copacetic!

Sorry to hear that. Brook wiped out my entire 55g stock a few years ago. By the time I realized I had a problem, it was too late. Brooklynella is one of (if not THE) worst fish diseases in the hobby as it can kill within hours of contraction.

Good luck, DBO. Hopefully you caught it in time to save what you have left.

well I spoke to soon. after various dips the vlamingii just could hold on. he died yesterday.
down to 4 chromis and falco hawkfish. I was going to put them in the qt tank that is now running but I am going out of town for 4 days this weekend and didn't want to throw them in there without anyone checking on the tank. ill do another dip before I leave and hope for the best.

I am so sorry to hear that news. I am more confident the green Chromis will make it, when I went through it, my green chromis showed no signs at all and even wondered if they could be affected. Ironically, when I did thousands of searches on forums with brooklynella I saw a pattern that anyone with green chromis said the same thing that they did not look affected and survived (makes you wonder). Anyhow, in the end I lost two of my 3 chromis due to the treatment more than the disease. The biggest strongest bully made it no problem and I think the stress from a small QT, being the bullied ones, and the meds did in the other two chromis because they looked great when I put them in. Wish you well

So ironic, to add to my earlier post, I was just reading on wetmedmedia about a longnose hawkfish my son just purchased and they mentioned that "hawkfish are quite resistent to protozoan problems" so hopefully all remaining will survive

Sorry man, that's a big loss. I'm actually breaking down my 125. I'm keeping my reef but this was a blow and I was attached to the fish I loss. I'll do another big tank in the future but for now my 75 reef will do.

wow dsc! I'm so sorry to hear about your losses. It must have been hard if you're breaking down the tank :( what do you think caused the brook? does it just "happen" sometimes to existing stock or does something usually bring it into the tank??
