P.H testing is a waste of your money and time .. P.H in and of its self means nothing and with any liquid regent test kit at the P.H we use is worthless also maybe close at best . If you worry about and keep the DKH or Alk up to proper levels the P.H as to be correct .. P.H swings so much during a 24 hr period Lights off lowers it as the CO2's are at their peak. Light's on Oxygen goes up and P.H rises.. My P.H has been hanging from 7.8 to 8.0 7.9 average all winter long and since I can't get the air pump located outside to blow fresh air into the sump thats low P.H is normal for any house in the winter..

Thanks Baxter, but I've always had problems with my tank...It's NEVER looked like it should(IMO, pink covered in coralline) and I've tried just about everything!

Tangster. What Specifically should I do to get my Alk and KH up? KH at 14 isn't high enough? I know I need an Alk test. Is KH different than DKH?

What test kit do you use for the KH readings ? Not sure but most K.H kits I ever had experience with measured KH in PPM I think this could be part of your problem ? I'll look to see what you have if you can just shoot me the name of the test kits . If its reading in PPM you should never let it drop lower then 250 PPM ever and 350 ppm is best.. This is why I only use a pure DKH kit the German degrees or Hardness its just simpler for me. The KH works with keeping the CO's somewhat at bey and that helps with the PH levels Unless you are using a P.H monitor then don't waste time checking the P.H But just give me you last K.H reading and the test kit name and I'll convert it for you.. I think you are low in this department ?
