What's going on with this rock?

    Starting to turn this yellow/brown color. Some kind of coralline algae? [​IMG]

    It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    Cycling or newly cycled tank? If so Diatoms.

    They will fade as the silicates are used up.

    How new is your tank? This is most likely a diatom bloom. It is normal and will go away in a week or so.

    Tank is about a month and a half old. All levels are good and fish are happy.

    Okay cool, Just was making sure. I don't think I'm helping any with running the lights for as long as i am. Also will cut back on the frozen foods for the next few weeks.

    they will just die off after a while its part of a new tank, next is cyno probaly

    Patience buddy. I am in my second diatom bloom and it's driving me insane. LOL

    Should i be concerned for my fish? Should i start doing any water changes?

    Plus i still need to finish adding my live rock... Gahh

    Water changes will not really help with Diatoms. The silicates that feed the bloom come from the new tank and equipment and sand, once they are used up the diatoms die off.

    As far as water changes for livestock then yes I would start doing small routine water changes.
