I have set up a fuge a couple of month ago, mostly chaeto. While it's not growing much it's not shrinking either - I'm still playing with the light/flow though. I've noticed a couple of what tube feather worms there and something that looks like a white cone with white shiny feathers sticking out of it. Could someone try to ID those? Please see the pick below.
There is also some white net-like thing growing inside the chaeto, or maybe it's chaeto dying? it reminds me of the plant roots and is inside the chaeto. I had the same thing growing in the bio-balls, back when I had those. it seems to be also spreading into the pump, weird stuff...
    Thanks as always!

They look like they may be small sponges (it looks like I can see the "tufts" on some of them), but it's hard to tell from the photo as there's no detail, only white.

Thank you Greg, I've looked that up, looks like it is a stringy sponge - it's taking over the chaeto. read on some forum it will choke the chaeto and is pretty much impossible to get rid of. I tried to take another shot of it, not sure if it's any improvement

Try exposing it to air...most sponges will die if their pores become air-filled. You can also pinch out the worst parts of it as the macro will regrow quickly in most cases.

Thank you, I've tried holding it out of the water, the question is for how long? I don't really want to throw away a lot of the sponge-covered chaeto, as there are feather warms in the same places as the sponge is. Tried picking them out but that was a bad idea. Hopefully air treatment will help.
