I have some great pieces of zoas in my tank that seem to be irritated/declining lately. I am very worried about losing them and do not know what is going on. Some of the polyps stay closed, but not closed like they usually do when touched or at night time. There is no noticeable pests bothering them, but to be sure i removed them and dipped them in an iodine solution. They still have looked the same. any ideas?

They might have zoa pox. I don't have a link to it but it is on coralpedia.

yes thats why i dipped them in case anything was hiding on them. Its a 20 gallon tank. i use a koralia 1, a koralia 2, and have a aqua c remora skimmer. Lighting is 4x 24 w t5ho. 3x ati blue plus and 1x aquablue special. anything else i could do besides dip them? am i doomed to lose all of my zoanthids?

Cut back on your lighting maybe, 2 bulbs should be more than enough for your tank.

agree with 2in10 - on the lighting - zoa's can be at varied depths - try to lower them if you can.

wow. i never really suspected lighting. that would be an easy fix. i have them glued to their spots on the rocks, but i can move them to the sandbed to see if that helps.
