Everything seems to be in check... nitrates are a bit higher than normal at 0.5 since I've been overfeeding a bit. Can nitrates cause this type of anomalies?

Thanks! He's still eating normal. In fact, it's been about He was introduced in the tank with the shrimp at the same time and they were buddies already at the fish store before I got them in my aquarium.
Domestic dispute? Do I possibly have an abusive shrimp?

LOL, I really love him too, he is scared easily by my Coral Beauty though... but he usually hangs out like in the pics and only rushes in the burrow when CB comes his way chasing a piece of food. Otherwise he stays out... camping in his little section... but out non-the-less

Wow... I did not know tiger shrimps could be that aggressive, Mike... I haven't seen mine act funny in that way, man... but now I worry. Could a fish cause this to himself by hitting a rock while swimming/moving through the cave system the shrimp dug up?...... or did the shrimp bltch-slapped my goby?

This thing has gotten bigger and it is quite protuberant.... makes me think of a tumor or something similar.
This "bump" he has got in his mouth is now coming out about 1/32 of an inch... and getting bigger.
Unless I have some weird kind of funky looking baby swordfish... something is wrong with my little fish :(

Any thoughts? He's still hanging out with the shrimp and eating and behaving ok.

How long has it been there? Has the red bit been there along with the bump the entire time or did the red come first? I'm thinking it was some sort of injury, maybe bumping into the glass like you said. It may have also been the Coral Beauty getting into a little scuffle with him. Have you ever seen them fight or does the goby tend to get away?

The red showed up first and the spot got bigger over time. I started noticing a small "bump" about 1.5 months ago and it has gotten bigger now to the point I am concerned it could be some disease.
The coral beauty has also been acting very strange for about 1.5 months too and where before he would hang out and swim in the open for my viewing pleasure, now he comes from behind the rocks only when I'm feeding, grabs some food and darts back to hide behind the rocks. I have never seen the cb literally attack the goby... the little fella is quite fast and I've always seen him make a clean gettaway.
This is all very strange.... no new fish were introduced before or during this weird episode. I seriously have no clue :(

Hello, ladies and gents.. I took some more pictures and this is really worrying me. Here's the protuberance that I've been talking about, it's still somewhat blurry since these pics have been taken with my phone camera. Please, take a look and let me know if you've seen this before:

    Before when it all started:

    And now:

These last pics look a little more clear:

Please, any advice or opinion would be immensely appreciated!

:( I have no idea. I would guess it's a tumor, but it could be some disease. I hope someone will have some information for you.
