    ... a goby and a blenny?

And since we're on the topic.....has anyone heard of an "Indian Blenny"?

I saw one at the LFS and was wondering.

Im thinking that a blenny is also a mudskipper that live in tidal pools
and gobies are more a shallow reef fish that cant mud skip  ;D

    Hmm...interesting

Boby noun ( pl. -bies) a small, usually marine fish that typically has a sucker on the underside. • Family Gobiidae: numerous genera and species.

ORIGIN mid 18th cent.: from Latin gobius, from Greek kobios, denoting some kind of small fish.

Blenny noun ( pl. -nies) a small, spiny-finned marine fish with scaleless skin and a blunt head, typically living in shallow inshore or intertidal waters.
    • [with adj. ] any of a number of other small fishes that resemble or are related to the true blennies, including the hairy blenny ( Labrisomus nuchipinnis, family Clinidae), found esp. along the Atlantic coast from the Bahamas to Brazil.

ORIGIN mid 18th cent.: from Latin blennius, from Greek blennos ‘mucus’ (because of its mucous coating).

A goby can and will pick up sand and sift it, where as a blenny will not. Gobies are a great sand sifter and will stir up the sand very well, not enough to cloud the water but it looks really cool when they do cause it falls through their gills not actually it comes out another slit, but looks cool!
