whats the diffrence between zoan frags and colonies???

does it man that a frag has not grown and a colonie has???

what is best to get?

 

"Frag" means "fragment" so it's only a piece of a larger coral (a.k.a. colony). Either is good to have but colonies are more expensive than frags because they are larger.

I've always like to buy frags and watch the corals grow. IMO, it's also easier to place frags in the tank rather then have to find a larger spot for a colony. Now, what people call a colony depends on each person. Some people will call a frag with multiple branches a small colony, while others will not. There's no clear distinction between a frag and colony, only personal subjective opinions.

 

can they be added to the tank at anytime???

obviousley when the sg,flow and lighing is right.

 

You'll want your tank to finish cycling and have little to no nitrates present before adding corals.

 

yeah i wouldnt add anything else till the cycle was over anyway
